Actor Timothy Busfield Accused of Child Sex Abuse in New Mexico
Emmy-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield has been charged in New Mexico with child sex abuse and criminal sexual contact of a minor. Authorities in Albuquerque issued an arrest warrant alleging Busfield inappropriately touched a child while working on the set of the TV series The Cleaning Lady.
Busfield, known for roles in The West Wing and Thirtysomething, turned himself in to police on Tuesday to face the charges after the warrant was issued earlier in the month.
The allegations stem from a criminal complaint filed by the Albuquerque Police Department, and the case remains under investigation.
Busfield has denied the accusations, saying in a video statement that he will “confront these lies” and maintain his innocence.
No further details have been released publicly as the legal process continues.
New Mexico is a landlocked state in the Southwestern region of the United States. It is one of the Mountain States of the southern Rocky Mountains, sharing the Four Corners region with Utah, Colorado, and Arizona.
